Wedding Reception

Susan and Greg decided to put an end to their happy 15-year engagement. They married on March 15, 2013.

Not much given to formality, they officially tied the knot in the presence of a very small group of close family. After that, the way was clear for a much larger reception - the fun part.

Food

We had a number of tasty dinner choices, including several vegetarian selections. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it.

Music

We were proud and delighted to have the ever-so-talented Bone Poets Orchestra perform for us. They rocked the house, there was much dancing, and everyone was pretty thoroughly exhausted by the time it was over. Go to their website. Listen to their music and buy some stuff from them, for lo! they are awesome.

The beautiful Gloria J.N. also performed a song for us: Everything I Do by Bryan Adams. While she serenaded the room with her lovely voice, the small children (dressed in white) handed out roses to all the women. This veered into comedy, as they didn't know quite when to stop -- handing multiple roses to the same people, and also trying to press roses on Gloria as she sang.

We finished out the evening with some karaoke. The groom sang a love song, Skullcrusher Mountain.

Raffle

We put the kibosh on the idea of wedding gifts. Instead, we invited guests to buy raffle tickets ($5). Raffle prizes included Bone Poets Orchestra CDs and mugs, Discworld books and other trinkets, and even a poster of Great A'Tuin signed by Terry Pratchett. All proceeds from the raffle will be going to charity.

Children

This was a child-friendly event, with a special area of the room (the Tower of Art) devoted to entertaining the little ones. There were games, puzzles, blocks, and arts & crafts. Teenage assistants were on hand to help with supervision. The children were extremely well-behaved throughout the whole evening, and seemed to enjoy themselves as much as the adults.

Greg's other sweethearts, Ketsy and Gloria, were in attendance. There was mild PDA*. Everyone seemed to take it in stride, though.

* Public Displays of Affection. Not that other acronym, which has to do with pocket (dis)organizers.
